Glen Phillips to play at Sappho and 'SKEK

There are even fans from Belgium asking for a reservation, so they can book their hotel: Glen Phillips of Toad the Wet Sprocket is playing in Amsterdam this week! We helped him set up some of the shows he's doing over here. Tonight he's opening up in the Sappho, and tomorrow he'll do his only full set you'll be able to hear in Amsterdam, at the student-run restaurant 'skek.

People are asking why he's playing in such humble places. Read his blog to find out... or go to one of his shows and ask him!

Larkin Grimm plays at ASG open mic session tonight

Just a few days after her show in Paradiso, Larkin Grimm will play at our open mic session at Sappho. She played the Sappho last year as well, and she really loves the open mic we have there. In fact, Larkin has talked up our open mic session all over the world and already sent many great artists our way!
She will do a special featured artist set on our open mic session tonight, don't miss it if you're into freefolk.

ASG wins big

Normally we never report this kind of thing, because we detest music contests. However, two songwriters we hold dearly have managed to sing their way into this year's finals of the leading Dutch singer-songwriter contest: GPvNL.
They are Lucky Fonz III and Barbara. Cheer for them at the finals in De Melkweg on Dec 9!

Every Thursday we'll play at 'skek

We'll put up singer-songwriters on a weekly basis at the new student-run restaurant 'skek. Every Thursday starting at 10 PM, our best songwriters will play at 'skek. Check it out, the food is not only perfect, but also amazingly cheap. It's at the Zeedijk 4-8, in the Red Light District of Amsterdam.

We start off with Lake, on Oct 19. She's the most original blues songwriter around. Whether she plays only with her guitar, or supported with the superb human beatboxer Sebastien, her voice brings it all home. Where is home at? Think New Orleans, somewhere around the thirties...

O yeah, big ups to Arthur for setting this up...
