Next Wednesday at the Sappho cafe we'll unravel the roots of songwriting with Gregg Weiss and Lake. Gregg Weiss takes bluegrass as a starting point, and gives it a distinctive free folk twist. Halfhide and Roely - both songwriters on their own account - will help him out on stage, with percussion and bass.Lake is the first songwriter I know with pure blues running through the veins. She grew up in Paris, Texas. But New Orleans is where she found it. What? Come and find out! Lake will bring her cracking Nina Simone-like voice, a guitar and a handful of soul-stirring songs with her.
